FOX get the shaft from Supreme Court!
| « | PsiRaptor.com Event. » |
This is my thoughts and response to an e-mail from OneMillionDads.com If you would like to read the e-mail I have copied it to here. The basic is this;
FOX aired the 2003 Billboard Music Awards show, in which FOX broadcast the f-word and two uses of the s-word. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the FCC on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, in the agency’s efforts to punish television broadcasters that broadcast indecency.
Follow up:
While I agree that broadcasters should be responsible and accountable for making sure show do not use these words. In this case I do not believe they are accountable for the action of people during a LIVE broadcast.

The Court's ruling is the direct result of OneMillionDads.com members filing thousands of complaints against FOX after it aired the 2003 Billboard Music Awards show, in which FOX broadcast the f-word and two uses of the s-word.
This was a live broadcast, and sense this happened all broadcaster do a 2-5 minute delay to air. The problem was fixed so that it could not happen again back in 2003. Making FOX pay for what non-FOX employees did, singers, actors or whomever is wrong and the Supreme Court in this case is wrong! This case would have been over 5 years ago except for people getting on soap boxes and crying foul to FOX, why not the people who said it. OH YEAH the first amendment, freedom of speech. You see the people who said could not get in trouble they are protected. So you go after the company who was trying to bring to a LIVE show. They learn that they cannot trust people to not use foul language on a LIVE show. So they started doing delayed broadcast to catch these words.
Now why are children watching the 2003 Billboard Music Awards which if you listen to current music, which Rap and Gangster Rap are all in the main stream music, why would you let your kids watch it. If your teenager is watching it they have heard these words over and over in the music, which is why they are watching it. So really in this case you are blaming FOX for you not doing your job as a parent.

I am so glad I am NOT a OneMillionDads.com member. You come out saying “I’m a concerned Dad” “I am mad that my children was exposed to these words”. really it is YOU who is to blame. Children who should not be listening to the music these guys make, and I will be the first to say I don’t like it, should not be watching a show that awards them. . As FOX fixed the problem, tell me what is the problem? The problem is self righteous people who most likely did not even see the show, jumping on what they think is a moral band wagon.
I will step down from my soap box.
