The Butterfly Circus
As a filmmaker you watch lots of shorts. Some are good, some bad, and every once in a while you find that diamond. The Butterfly Circus is not just a diamond, it is the rare exquisite diamond.

Ratings, Ratings, and Ratings

NBC, which in my view is the worst network, seems to find it's self trying to switch back it's late night host. According to TMZ Jay Leno may be coming back to the Tonight Show and Conan O'Brien leaving NBC. Why am I commenting on this? Because several years ago I worked for an NBC affiliate when Jay Leno announced he would retire and hand over the Tonight Show to Conan. At which time I told several people that was a mistake. I had several people tell me that Conan would be able to bring a younger audience to the Tonight Show. I said then that The Tonight Show was not the venue that Conan needed and the people who kept The Tonight Show number 1 in the late night talk show ratings would not watch Conan. Well to all of those who said I was wrong I say, I told you so!
Now just in case someone from NBC is reading this I would like to tell you that you will keep spending money making, buying and canceling TV shows as long as you keep the mind set of "Heroes". By that I mean that NBC is looking trying to find the instant hit. That is why NBC has had and canceled so many new series.
With so many shows now coming out with full season on DVD I have noticed something. Some of the top series that lasted several years, when watching the first season you can see how far the series improved. Until NBC settles down and allows a series to grow they will not. NBC needs to allow shows to develop an audience. NBC needs to stop looking for the quick fix and stop screwing with the ones, like The Tonight Show, that was working fine.
